Humanitas Fertility Conference 2026: From Infertility Treatment to Family Planning

From Infertility Treatment to Family Planning is an international conference celebrating 30 years of the Humanitas Fertility Center, held at the Humanitas Congress Center in Rozzano, Milan. It is organized by Humanitas Research Hospital IRCCS under the scientific coordination of Prof. Paolo Emanuele Levi-Setti. The two-day Humanitas Fertility Conference brings together gynecologists, urologists, biologists, midwives, nurses, and psychologists to explore how assisted reproductive technologies have evolved from treating infertility into a broader tool for family planning.

The program combines talks and lectures with structured discussion, and every session pairs expert presentations with dedicated discussants to keep the exchange open and practical. Five invited lectures from internationally recognized names, including Dominique de Ziegler, Anja Pinborg, Alberto Ferlin, and Alan Handyside, anchor the agenda. The meeting opens with a lecture by Pasquale Patrizio on the ability and inability of infertility treatments to meet family planning ideals.

A distinctive feature of this edition is its willingness to question the field's own conventions. A session titled "Nomina sunt consequentia rerum" revisits familiar labels such as PCOS and "social freezing." Another asks where the limits of reproductive freedom lie, covering questions from universal access to oocyte freezing to donor anonymity.

Other sessions cover preconception and preimplantation genetic testing, oocyte donation and banking, and the question of how old is too old in female and male reproduction. In an era of older populations and smaller families, the conference offers a timely forum for rethinking how reproductive medicine serves patients' long-term family goals.
